All Containers

There are many different types of shipping containers designed to suit different purposes. The most commonly used shipping containers range in overall size – 20ft containers ,40ft containers and 45ft containers. Within these size options, there are specific containers used for different types of cargo, including high cube dry storage containers, flat rack containers, open top containers, tunnel containers, open side containers, double door containers, half height containers. There are also refrigerated containers, known as reefers, insulated and thermal containers for temperature control, tank containers for liquids. Swap body containers, car carrier containers and drum containers are also regularly used.

These containers cater for most needs, but in some instances Oceanbox can make bespoke containers to meet specific customer requirements for their cargo.

20ft, 40ft and 45ft dry storage containers are used for shipping dry goods that do not require temperature control.

Flat rack containers are particularly suitable for heavy loads and cargo that needs loading from the top or sides. Flat rack containers are available in 20ft and 40ft sizes, collapsible or non-collapsible and with or without walls.

Open top shipping containers are built without a solid roof. They have instead they removable bows and a weatherproof tarpaulin roof secured with ropes and allows for a significantly simplified loading and unloading process. The door header can also be swung out allowing for easier access to the cargo. Open top containers are ideal for bulky cargo such as machinery.

Tunnel containers feature doors at both ends, useful when quick loading and unloading of materials is required.

Open side shipping containers can be quickly adapted to be completely open sided. This allows for the storage of wide merchandise and makes loading easy.

Insulated and thermal containers feature a regulated temperature control, which means the environment maintains a higher temperature when goods need to be transported at an optimum temperature.

Tank containers are used for the storage of liquid. They are typically constructed of strong steel and other anti-corrosive materials to protect the liquid freight inside.

Double door shipping containers make it easy for the loading and unloading of freight. Typically constructed from steel and iron, double door containers are available in 20ft and 40ft sizes.

Refrigerated ISO containers are temperature regulated to maintain a carefully controlled low temperature. Reefers are used for the shipment of perishable substances such as vegetables, fruit, dairy products and meat.

Special purpose containers can be any number of different shapes and sizes, often custom made for specific cargo.

Swap body containers are designed to be swapped from a truck chassis to a railcar. Featuring foldable legs that support the container in-between the two transport modes, the swap body system of transport is common across Europe.

Half height containers are used for the transport of heavy low volume cargo on ships and trains. They can also be used for vehicle transportation or as a cargo platform for local transport of sand, gravel and other items used in the offshore oil and gas industry, including pipes, tools, chains, hooks and anchors.

Car carrier containers are used for the transportation of liquid materials, cars and special goods.

Drum containers, also known as drums, are cylindrical shipping containers made of steel, plastic or fiber. Drums are commonly used for transportation of liquids and granular materials.
